BOOK SYNOPSISAt the age of three weeks old, a German baby girl Monika Luise is adopted by a military family in Europe and immigrates to the United States. As a 4-year-old, she becomes a naturalized U.S. citizen, attends American public schools, graduates, is married, has two sons, and lives like any other typical family. At the age of forty-four and having been married for more than twenty-six years, she is listed as a “missing person” with the San Antonio Police Department.Shortly thereafter, an anonymous caller informs the police that she has been murdered by her husband and is buried in their back yard. Police search the yard and find a human skull, detached lower jaw, numerous bone fragments, and body tissue. Searching inside the house, they discover blood on the walls, floors and in the bathtub. Finally, the “missing person” case is solved. Now we have a homicide.Subsequently, DNA results indicate these are not the bones of the missing person. In fact, they are the bones of two or three other persons. Amazing! Now we have a multiple homicide, as well as a missing person case! Police are beginning to wonder if they have a serial killer on their hands. Could the murderer be the husband? The neighbors are very confused and concerned about the safety of their families. They do not know these people even though they have lived there for approximately eight years. They were very quiet, private, and secretive, and never joined in the neighborhood block parties. But exactly what has been going on inside that home? The police chief states later that this is the most complex and confusing murder case he has seen in his more than twenty years on the force. |
